How to close (deactivate) your FanDuel account permanently

By Charlie G, a compulsive gambler in recovery. Facts checked November 4, 2026 against the official pages linked below. Not medical, legal or financial advice.

FanDuel calls closing your account deactivating it. Its help page says deactivation is permanent. It's still worth doing in the right order, because the thing that actually keeps you out of every FanDuel app is self-exclusion.

The short version

  • Withdraw your balance first.
  • Path: Account, then Settings, then Account Controls and Closure, then Deactivate. Pick a reason and follow the prompts.
  • Self-exclude too. A lock with a term that can't be shortened is stronger than an account setting. FanDuel self-exclusion steps.
  • Enroll in your state's program at lifetime if it's offered.

How to deactivate your FanDuel account

We link to this operator only so you can lock yourself out. We do not promote betting apps or sportsbooks. Apps change, so if a button has moved, the official page wins.

  1. Log in and open Account

    Scroll down to Settings.

  2. Tap Account Controls and Closure

    Then choose Deactivate.

  3. Pick a reason and follow the prompts

If gambling is causing you problems, say so. It's the honest answer and it may point you to the stronger tools.

Why self-exclude as well

Self-exclusion has a fixed term you can't cut short. FanDuel's self-exclusion covers its products, and in many states the state program covers every licensed sportsbook. Choose the longest term, renew it, and enroll in the state list at lifetime if it's offered.

There's no room for gambling in our lives going forward. Even after a few years of cooling off, the addiction comes back and we end up gambling the same way again. We never get back to doing it just for fun. We always take it too far.

Then lock the other doors

Should I close FanDuel or self-exclude?

Both. Self-exclusion first, then deactivate.
